Looking for trouble?

When someone or some group gets "hooked" on one way of "making a living," for obvious reasons, that way is strongly defended.  Like farming vs. hunter-gathering, for example.  Hunter-gatherers could merely move on when crowded by other tribes.  Farmers didn't have that option: They had to stay and fight.  The same applies to modern societies lacking easy flexibility of "income" producing modes.   --L.
